“…… funny, theatrically exciting, well acted, highly professional… directed with great imagination and whimsy by Alex MacDonald. Mr. Smith’s ghastly story is retold to the audience by Chantale Plante and Maureen Smith, who work beautifully together, as they splash about in the fateful bathtub. Don’t miss this! THE DROWNING GIRLS. Excellent theatre…”

“……a gem of a play, skillfully written, energetically performed, and directed with great verve and imagination, one of those MUST SEE FRINGE EXPERIENCES……a fabulous hour of theatre, performed with great energy and authority by Chantale Plante and Maureen Smith… its gripping stuff, excellent! - Tom McSorley - All in A Day - CBC RADIO 91.5
THE DROWNING GIRLS Rating: ****1/2 Arts Court Theatre. The Drowning Girls is based on the true story of serial killer George Joseph Smith, who drowned several wives in a bathtub in the early 1900s. The story is told through two of those dead wives, Bessie and Alice, who watch as their killer is tried and sentenced to hang. We already know who the murderer is, so the mystery that this play explores is how Smith gained the love, trust and money of several unfortunate wives. But the macabre subject matter doesn't dictate the tone of the show. It has lots of comic moments, and there's plenty of energy in the performances. The stage is bare except for a bathtub -- and yes, the bathtub is full. There's lots of waterplay in this tale of how two women came to be drowned during a relaxing bath. Highly recommended. -Patricia Nicholson ottawa.com
